ACCREDITATION FOR CONTEMPORARY DESIGN AND PLANNING EDUCATION

Objection Method

Objections can be made against the following accreditation decisions by the design or planning program applying for accreditation or by the relevant manager of the higher education institution to which the program is affiliated:

  • Denial of accreditation

  • Termination of accreditation

Decisions to suspend accreditation cannot be appealed. Objections must be made with justification within ten working days following the date of notification of the decisions regarding accreditation to the relevant Design or planning program in writing (an official letter or electronic notification such as e-mail). The method and timeframe for making objections are announced on the OYK/AYK website. The EC informs the objector that his/her objection has been received and that the evaluation process has started. The basic flow of the appeal evaluation process is as follows:

  • The AYK prepares the objection file consisting of all kinds of additional information, documents, and records that will enable the evaluation of the objection to be made and informs the OYK within five working days after the receipt of the objection and calls the Advisory Board to duty.

  • The Advisory Board prepares the Objection Evaluation Report by completing its evaluation within ten working days after the objection evaluation task is communicated to them at the latest.

  • The Objection Evaluation Report and the objection file prepared by the Advisory Board is submitted to the AYK. AYK submits the result of this evaluation to OYK within three working days at the latest.

  • OYK evaluates the Objection Evaluation Report delivered to it within five working days from the date it is sent, makes the accreditation decision and reports the result to the AYK.

  • OYK informs the design or planning program manager in writing about the appeal evaluation result within five working days at the latest.

  • Suppose it is decided to make a re-evaluation for accreditation as a result of the appeal evaluation. In that case, this situation is communicated to the design or planning program manager, and an examination is made within a new calendar and within the scope of additional periods. The new review periods in question are outside the periods for appeal evaluation.

Complaint Method

There is no time limit for filing complaints. Complaints are received, filed, and archived in accordance with e-mail, petition, official letter, or other methods specified on the website. The AYK does not consider anonymous complaints but allows them to be considered as feedback at the annual review meeting or reviews.

Informing the complainant that his/her complaint has been taken into the evaluation process is preferable via e-mail. In case of the absence of an e-mail, the AYK is informed by the method determined in accordance with the request of the complainant. The basic flow of the complaint evaluation process is as follows:

  • The AYK prepares the complaint file consisting of all kinds of additional information, documents, and records that will enable the evaluation of the complaint and informs the OYK within five working days after receiving the complaint and calls the Advisory Board to duty.

  • The Advisory Board prepares the Complaint Evaluation Report by completing its evaluation within ten working days after the complaint evaluation task is communicated to them at the latest.

  • The Complaint Evaluation Report and the complaint file prepared by the Advisory Board are submitted to the AYK. AYK submits the result of this evaluation to OYK within three working days at the latest.

  • In the case of justified complaints, OYK decides on the improvement/corrective/preventive action to be carried out within five working days at the latest and ensures that it is carried out.

  • The result of the evaluation of the complaint is notified to the complainant in writing by the AYK.
